Abstract

Beneficial soil microorganisms known as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) increase plant production and growth through a variety of direct and indirect processes. By fixing nitrogen, solubilizing phosphate, and producing phytohormones, they increase the availability of nutrients. They also shield plants against infections by producing siderophores, antibiotics, and systemic resistance. Additionally, PGPR makes plants more resilient to abiotic challenges such salt, drought, and heavy metal toxicity. Their use lessens reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, encouraging sustainable and ecologically friendly farming. This review focuses on PGPR's methods, agricultural applications, advantages, difficulties, and prospects for enhancing global food security.
